Handling protocols

  • Check the manufacturer pack before use and reject it if it is wet, torn, mouldy, insect-infested or otherwise compromised.
  • Keep dry utensils and moisture out of the rice. Rinse and cook according to the pack directions or your chosen recipe.
  • After cooking, refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours, or within 1 hour when the temperature is above 32°C, using shallow covered containers.
  • Use refrigerated cooked rice within 3–4 days and reheat leftovers thoroughly to 74°C (165°F).

Storage tips

  • Keep the unopened pack in a cool, dry place away from direct heat, moisture and pests, and follow the manufacturer's printed best-before date.
  • After opening, reseal tightly or transfer the rice to a clean airtight food-grade container. In warm or humid homes, Meal05 quality target: best used within about 6 months after opening.
  • Discard if the rice becomes mouldy, persistently damp, heavily insect-infested or develops a musty or otherwise unusual odour.
